Mountain Home Combines Contemporary Style, Rustic Touches

For a modern spin on mountain living, interior designer Jordan Iverson outfitted this two-story home with contemporary furniture and black-trimmed accents. Rustic touches throughout, like exposed beams and stone walls, give the home a rugged look that's both beautiful and balanced.

Modern Exterior With Wood Accents

The dark siding of this home easily blends with the concrete driveway for a look that's both subdued and seamless. Wood accent panels add pops of intrigue and warmth to the house and attached garage.

Sitting Room Showcases Textured Wall

A large natural rock fireplace surround is the focal point of this stylish, contemporary sitting room. The texture offers a beautiful contrast to the smooth finishes in the majority of the room, while a blue sofa adds a pop of color to the neutral furniture and rug.

Built-In Black Bookshelf

To keep the space from feeling too heavy or dark, white wire chairs pair with neutral throws for a look that feels soft and balanced. Against the far wall, a built-in bookshelf showcases the owners' prized possessions.

Den Infused With Wood

Across the way, pale blue walls become a soothing backdrop for relaxing in the den. A wood coffee table, cabinet and chair add warmth to the setting, as well as give the owners' a space to store essentials like DVDs and magazines.

Floral-Patterned Powder Room

Black and white floral wallpaper creates a bold look in the attached powder room. A classic white pedestal sink, clear mirror frame and simple lamp sconces allow the wallpaper to be the star of the design.

Contemporary Sitting Room

Back in the sitting room, recessed lighting evokes a calming environment. With an abundance of seating options, from the wired chairs to the plush sectionals, the owners can lounge on their own or entertain a crowd.

Rustic Contemporary Dining Room With Stone Wall

A slate-gray stone accent wall becomes the star attraction in this dining room, thanks to the simple styling of the space. It's a great example of how layers of texture make a neutral space so visually interesting.

Open-Concept Kitchen and Dining

With white walls and lightly-colored floors, the formal dining room and kitchen feel even bigger and more open. Black metal balusters along the staircase add just the right touch of edgy visual contrast.

Dining Space Features Large Pendants

With a wall of floor-to-ceiling glass doors, the dining room is filled with warm natural light. Large pendant fixtures overhead keep the space illuminated into the evening, while eight chairs offer plenty of room for entertaining.

Kitchen Includes Eat-In Island

Brown leather bar chairs blend beautifully with the wood finishes in this modern kitchen, making the space feel warm and cohesive. Four black pendant lights hang over the polished island countertop to ensure that meal prep or breakfast runs as smoothly as possible.

Exposed Beams, Wood Accents

Wood pieces including shelves, cabinets and the polished island pop against the kitchen's all-white backdrop. Exposed beams overhead run the length of the room and so draw the eye from wall to wall.

Black-Trimmed Windows, Light Fixtures

Above the sink, windows trimmed in black both complement the pendant light fixtures and give the kitchen a slightly edgy aesthetic. White cabinets accentuate the look, as well as provide essential storage.

Rustic Kitchen With Wood Accents

A wooden strip around the edge of the range hood breaks up the sea of white on this kitchen's walls, counters and cabinets and helps unify the other wood accents in the room.

Pendants in Rustic Open Kitchen

This open plan kitchen features a lot of crisp angles, so the bell-shaped pendant lights are a welcome contrast.

Range Hood With Wood

White cabinets, walls and a range hood create a bright surrounding for the stainless steel stove in this modern kitchen. A natural wood hood trim and exposed ceiling beams stand out against the stark backdrop for a dose of warmth and color.

Open Plan Kitchen With Exposed Beams

In this beautiful kitchen, the exposed wood beams and countertops give the space a rustic feel; sculptural pendants and chef-grade appliances add contemporary polish.

Built-In Breakfast Bar

Entertaining is made easy thanks to the kitchen's open-concept design and built-in bar. Here, four leather chairs give the family plenty of elbow room to converse over breakfast, while the cook can easily move around the space and load up plates.

Metallic Bar Cart

Wood steps fixed over a black base creates a simple, sleek look for this staircase. Black balusters connect thick wire railing for an open, modern design that complements the bar cart's metallic finish.

Staircase With Pendant Lights

The open architecture of the wooden staircase allows for enjoying views of the midcentury modern light fixtures above. Thanks to their delicate design, the lights perfectly balance the industrial railing.

Double-Height Ceiling

A trio of pendant lights featuring mixed 3D shapes are layered at varying heights to fill the space of this two-story open staircase. Wire railing secures the design, while mlack metal balusters enhance the contemporary aesthetic.

Bright White Master Bath

Penny tile floors give a subtle texture to master bath and complement the gray tones in the marble countertop. Large mirrors and a row of sconces mounted above the sinks ensure that the space feels bright and airy.

Double Vanity in Marble

With two mirrors, two sinks and ample storage below, this double vanity keeps the owners' personal space clearly defined and organized. Marble countertops naturally complement the room's gray and white tones, while mirrors trimmed in black add a contemporary touch.

Silver Soaking Tub

An evening bath just become more luxurious thanks to the metallic finish on this freestanding tub. Set against the window, the feature allows for soaking in the natural light while still enjoy a degree of privacy.

Marbled Subway Tile

To make the master bath feel calm and cohesive, the designers matched the penny tile floor with marbled subway tile in the shower. Because they echo similar shades, the patterns add interest without overwhelming the space.

Gray and White Shower Stall

Marbled subway tile gives a cool and calm finish to this shower's interior. A double shower head allows for enjoying more water in the morning, while a floating bench and built-in cubby keep essentials like soap and conditioner within reach.

Guest Bath With Rustic Touches

The rustic look of the floating vanity gives a gorgeous warm element to the otherwise cool tones of this guest bathroom. White floors and walls keep the look light and airy, and so make the small space room feel more spacious.

Bright Blue Shower

Opposite the vanity, a walk-in shower gives guests room to relax and refresh. Subway tile in blue not only complements the room's white tones, but also adds a cheerful touch.

Private Balcony With Woodsy Views

Turning off the master suite leads onto the private balcony, where a triangle table and two chairs create a spot for enjoying views of the surrounding mountains. Wood finishes all around are perfect for the rustic setting.

Patio With Round Dining Table

In this sophisticated home, the transition between indoors and out is made gracefully seamless with a large sliding glass door and a stone wall that extends from the interior dining area out to the patio.

Gray Exterior and Backyard

Charcoal gray siding covers the levels and layers of this modern home. Large windows provide a peak into the home, while downstairs patios and a second story balcony expand the living space into the outdoors.
