Embracing Natural Colors and Textures
Living Room With Proper Proportions
Homeowners who had grown used to oversized, hand-me-down furniture couldn't believe what proper proportions could do for their space. To save money in the living room redesign, designer Katheryn Cowles opted to give the existing built-in cabinets a facelift with a new paint job, glass shelves and better lighting. The stone fireplace is the focal point in the space, fitting perfectly with the overall natural theme the homeowners had hoped for.
Cheery Dining Space
A dining space with room for everyone in this family of five is given a cozy feel with warm shades of yellow and brown. Minimal decor keeps the focus on the family and the quality time they share together around the table. Soft touches, like the plush area rug, fabric-covered chairs and lush curtains, give the space a comfortable, relaxed vibe.
Cozy, Transitional Sitting Room
An arched doorway from the dining room offers a view of the family's sitting room, which showcases traditional crown molding mixed with some more modern furniture styles for the ultimate transitional look the homeowners craved.
Textural Elements in the Entryway
The homeowners' desire for a natural, textural design is showcased in the family's entryway with the use of beautiful, deep green plants and woven baskets.
A Place to Gather
The breakfast nook turned out to be the perfect place for the family to gather in the mornings or for other casual meals. A lighted display area above the pantries is a nice touch and a great place to show off the family's collections from their travels.
Cherry Cabinets and a Charging Station
Dark cherry cabinets offer plenty of storage space in this beautiful kitchen adorned with new stainless steel appliances. One cabinet even includes a charging station, which turned out to be a big hit with the family.
A Kitchen With Secret Storage
A kitchen island is a great kitchen addition that is useful for preparing meals and is also an ideal place for the kids to do homework or have a snack after school. To keep them from kicking off their shoes and leaving them in the kitchen, a children’s shoe station was created just inside the kitchen and works great for corralling the mess.
