Mixing Textures in Traditional Living Room

Symmetrical furnishings and a neutral color palette give this traditional living room a simple, clean feel. Great use of texture in the rug, coffee table and stone fireplace creates depth and makes the large space feel intimate.

Wise Window Treatment

To shield the afternoon sun and to keep a glare off the TV, black pull-down screens were installed above each window in the Lake Tahoe living room.

Living Room With Depth

A pair of white built-in bookshelves flanks the fireplace in this traditional living room. Small details like the natural stone on the fireplace and the custom-made lamps create interest and give the room personality.

TV Cover-Up

Designer Linda McCall toyed with several ideas for concealing the TV before deciding on a pair of barn-wood doors that were faux-painted. "As the project evolved and the fireplace wall as a whole was so simply beautiful, I didn’t want anything over the TV that would overpower the fireplace," explains Linda.

The Perfect Hiding Place

When closed, the faux-painted sliding barn-wood doors blend beautifully with this traditional living room's neutral color palette and don't overpower the lovely stone fireplace.
