Designer Lisa Furey's challenge was to design and build a 690-square-foot low country cottage that would include a kitchen, laundry area, bedroom and workspace as well as outdoor space. Board and batten siding, a standing seam metal roof and board and batten composite shutters — all weather-proof choices — give the exterior a farmhouse feel.
In the master bathroom, a vessel sink with a blue and white toile pattern adds vintage charm to the soft space.
A set of stairs on the other side of the kitchenette gives the loft guest space access to the rest of the home.
The upstairs loft bedroom has access to its own kitchenette, making this space private.
To help warm the master bedroom and give the space some rustic charm, designers hung warm, vintage paintings on the walls, adding personality.

Despite the large window, the kitchen was extremely dark with cherry-stained cabinets and red walls before designer Lisa Furey renovated the space. The layout is kept the same, but everything is lightened up.White Shaker cabinets combine with limestone countertops and glass tile backsplash for a clean, transitional look.
A vaulted ceiling, clean white walls and a front door with large glass panels help make this small kitchen and living area feel bright and open. White Shaker cabinetry conceals a small refrigerator, full-sized dishwasher, microwave and toaster oven. A farmhouse sink and barn-style pendant lights speak to a modern farmhouse aesthetic — as does the open shelving with beadboard backing. Saddle-style barstools provide additional seating.
White walls, large windows and a vaulted ceiling make this bedroom feel light, breezy and open. Reclaimed heart pine floors offer warmth and contrast. Woven wood shades allow light to filter through while still providing shade and relief from heat.
This designated spot for homework and bills keeps clutter out of the kitchen. The built-in desk and upper cabinets provide plenty of storage for filing, art supplies and mail. A lantern pendant light and porcelain tile floors add polished style to the space.
Located conveniently next to the kitchen, this butler's pantry keeps wine glasses stowed away behind pretty glass cabinets. A miniature refrigerator keeps wine chilled and ready for serving. An arabesque tile backsplash adds interest to break up the black cabinetry.
