Main House Entry and Pond at Night

The homeowners wanted to have a water feature that would collect rain water from the large horizontal roof and have it cascade around the house when it rains. By recirculating the water, the designers made the feature active year round.

Main House Entry Bridge and Water Trough

At the entrance, a bridge of local Lilac Bluestone crosses over the trough that collects rain water. At night, LED lighting underneath the bridge makes it appear to float.

Water Feature With Stone Wall

The house's beautiful water features echo the creeks and ponds in the forests nearby. This runnel lies directly beneath the eaves of the house. As the water travels north along the façade it bisects a stone wall and falls into a metal basin.

Stone Terrace With Firepit and Lake View

To show off the residence's sweeping views of Lake Champlain, the designers set up careful terraces and walkways. The stone plinth wall makes the house and terraces seem to float above the meadow.

Dining Terrace With Outdoor Kitchen and Lake View

Like the walkways, the dining terrace is also made of Lilac Bluestone. It includes an outdoor kitchen designed to withstand the harsh Vermont winters with Corten steel and a cast concrete countertop. A kitchen garden conveniently borders the space.

Water and Mountain View at Sunset

Spectacular water and mountain views take center stage thanks to graceful paths surrounding the house and walls full of windows. Enjoy the show any time of day.

Corten Steel Waterfall and Pools

The landscaping and water features are inspired by the house's setting: the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain. This series of waterfalls and pools are outside the master suite, giving the rooms the soothing sound of trickling water.

Stone Terrace and Corten Steel Wall

The upper terrace is framed in by a Corten steel wall with vines climbing up it. On the lowel level, a natural-feeling stone patio gracefully gives way to a grassy lawn.

Steel Retaining Wall and Vines at Night

This striking retaining wall features innovative design but also manages to blend harmoniously with the plants and surroundings. Steel panels hover off of a concrete core wall and are illuminated from within at night. Stainless steel cables add additional support for vines.

Courtyard Between Guest House and Main House

The beautiful property includes a main house and a guest house connected by a serene courtyard. A segmented bluestone walkway leads from one to the other.

Landscaping and Walkway from Guest House

The gently sloping walkway cuts through lush landscaping that blends perfectly with the home's woodland surroundings and lends mystery and privacy to the buildings.

Walkway With Metal Railing and Grasses

The landscaping playfully mixes textures, contrasting the home's wooden exterior with stone paths, feathery ornamental grasses, metal railings and smooth river rocks.

Stone Steps and Patio

The expansive main patio features a dining and lounging area, separated by a small flight of steps and a retaining wall. On all sides, beautiful gardens provide a backdrop of rich green.

Ferns and Stone Slab Driveway

Large stone slabs mark out the driveway. Ferns and greenery gracefully blend the space back into the woods.
