Bonnie J. Lewis, Allied ASID, Associate IIDA, CAPS, is an Interior Designer, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, and the principal of Copper Star Interiors, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her interior design experience includes private residential (primary and secondary), specialized residential senior living and Aging-in-Place, commercial tenant improvement (TI), and home staging.
From her first box of 64 Crayola crayons at the age of four, to experimenting with food colors in frosting, to a Color Theory course in design college, to her professional color consultations and design work today, Bonnie has always had a passion, and an eye, for color and design. As a teenager she expressed her talent through award-winning cake decorating. As an adult, it was illustrated through award-winning artwork, home décor, and her professional work as a marketing communications manager where she was responsible for global branding, websites, advertising, and literature, and she effectively managed large projects and budgets, teams, and vendors for several Fortune 100 companies including a software division of Rockwell Automation and ITT Industries.
Following a dream, in 2004, Bonnie re-careered into interior design. In tandem, she returned to college to earn a degree in interior design and Bonnie started, developed and operated Enhanced to Sell, LLC, where she staged over 130 vacant homes in value from $200,000 to $2.8 million, won several Best Home on Tour Awards, was featured in numerous publications, and consistently increased her clients’ return on investment (ROI).
Following graduation, Bonnie expanded her knowledge and experience employed as an interior designer and sales consultant for Brix Home, a local upscale furniture company and working for international, award-winning, commercial senior living interior design firm Thoma-Holec Design. In 2013, Bonnie was honored by the American Society of Interior Designers with an ASID 2013 Design Excellence Award.
With specialized knowledge of senior living design and aging-in-place, in 2012, Bonnie was pleased and honored to design her father’s new assisted living apartment. She created a comfortable, safe, home-like, attractive space to meet his specific needs and to help ease his transition from a single family home into a senior living community.
To help others enjoy their later years in life to the fullest, while making life easier and sustaining independence as long as possible, whether aging-in-place at home or in an Active Adult, Senior Living or Retirement Community, Bonnie created 55+ TLC Interior Design, LLC, catering to discriminating seniors and Boomers.
Bonnie holds an Associates Degree in Interior Design from Scottsdale Community College and a Bachelors Degree in Marketing Communications from DePaul University. Bonnie is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and an Associate Member of the International Interior Designers Association (IIDA). She is also a trained Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Bonnie is a member of the Human Service Professionals Association and the Arizona Fall Prevention Coalition.
Having grown up in Ohio and living in the Chicagoland area for 18 years, Bonnie’s Midwest values and strong work ethic are deeply rooted. Residing in Arizona, Bonnie loves the sunshine (and heat!), the beauty of the desert and its stunning sunsets and sunrises.
