In this contemporary kitchen, two chandeliers balance the length of the large island and raise the eye upward. The marbled backsplash complements the tan wall and brown island cabinets. Large islands are the ideal space to add much-needed storage as well as a few luxuries. Designer Jennifer Gilmer of Jennifer Gilmer Kitchens & Bath Ltd., included an under-counter beverage refrigerator, deep and shallow drawers, and even an extra prep sink to create a functional and stylish island.

Inside the wet room, a sloped shower floor and linear drain system eliminates the need for a shower door, creating universal access and a feeling of openness. The plank tile is continued vertically up the rear shower wall, while the adjacent walls are tiled in iridescent white porcelain for maximum reflection of natural light. Because the window offers spectacular city skyline views, a curtain of beaded crystal is hung to create a permeable layer of privacy and to represent falling beads of water. The installation of a living orchids wall completes the experience of showering outdoors within the city.
Storage isn't a problem in this kitchen. Glass-front upper cabinets, open shelving and a full-size pantry opposite the Sub-Zero fridge offer style and storage. Contemporary track lighting against a paneled ceiling draw the eye upward in the narrow space.
To carry out the white and brown theme of this contemporary dining room, the cabinets and hutch were painted bright white. A wooden dining table and chairs add a more traditional look to the space.
The master suite is comprised of three rooms - the bedroom, dressing room and wet room. Behind the bed, a thrift store find creates a stunning focal point - this vintage 1970’s oil painting by a local city artist creates a dramatic and elegant statement. Inspired by the painting, Lauren Levant designed custom pendant lighting that she made herself from copper battery clamps, stainless steel cable and a light socket kit from the hardware store. A World War II era shipping trunk and an antique ladder complete the collection to create an eclectic, dramatic master suite that celebrates adaptive innovation.
